More about acer alw resolution problems. Can't find your answer? Glad that you got your problem solved. Using the SIS utility program its just not in the list of choices so i am having to use x If anyone can help then please let me know.
My pc is an Asus T2-AE1, the Asus website has not given me any help apart from the occasional update for the SIS grpahics which is what is what the pc came with.
Why didn't Acer send this driver on a disk? Anyway my monitor still requires scrollling and stretches images. I still haven't figured out how to fix it. Rojaz Jun 26, , 6: For those having problems getting the ALW to display at x , the solution is to download and install the monitor driver on the Acer site. Once you've downloaded and installed the driver, and assuming your graphics card can handle the resolution, you will then be able to select the proper resolution in Windows at least if you're using XP - not sure if there are drivers for other operating systems This is the approach I took and all is working for me.
You can install the monitor driver from the "Monitor" tab under the "Advanced" configuration section of Windows "Display Properties. And here it is The preset resolutions bugged me because everything was either distorted or not big enough.
Then I discovered by chance I just went poking around that the has a custom resolution setting. I just plugged in and Hey guys I too am having trouble with one of these monitors. The graphics chip is a Intel G with latest driver 6.
The highest resolution available to me is x and before I installed the Acer driver, the monitor was being detected as a default monitor. Unfortunately the budget Intel graphics hasn't got a custom resolution setting that I can find. The monitor runs at it's native res. I'm thinking the d is in need of a reinstall but if anyone has a suggestion I'm all ears. Darkchyld Sep 10, , 3: I would get another EricM Sep 10, , 5: I got my alw delivered today from amazon.
I've got it linked up to my and my old browsing desktop with a vga switcher, the looks great on it but my old desktop isnt looking so hot My old desktop is a four year old duron with sis integrated graphics, i cant select the native x resolution for this monitor.
I'd really appreciate any advice. Hi guys,I just bought a alw and im running it through a ati pro. Hi, I've tried downloading the drivers via the link and directly from Acer's site. When I open the zip file there is no setup exe there.
Can anyone enlighten me? Hello, I tried the same thing and i cannot open the file or there is nothing there. HELP there has to be a way to get my new monitor to work right. Umm, just seen the last post on this topic was in December I've just bought the ACER W and, after speaking with technician on their support desk, that it could be my graphics card as I'm getting 'No Signal' - I have a nVIDIA GeFORCE GS - is it a case of getting a newer one I note those with lower cards seem not to have a problem though , newer drivers for the card any links to where to find them will be appreciated or will just the monitor driver do I've downloaded it, but cannot find where to install it manually in the Control Panel?
Problems with acer w monitor reaching x resolution on win I then installed the w. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to give win 98 up just because of a new monitor.
Anonymous Aug 19, , The program named PowerStrip will help you. Anonymous Aug 20, , 9: Hi When you start PowerStrip, it's icon appers in your system tray. At the right side it will be slider "Resolution". Choose your x by moving it. That's all, try and say if it wouldn't work, we'll try something else.
Anonymous Aug 21, , 1: Maybe your video adapter doesn't support x resolution. I had this problem too when my graphics controller was integrated and didn't support If it is so, I advise you to take your monitor back to the store and buy an another 19" monitor maybe Acer AL, without "W" letter , which will be 4: Anonymous Aug 21, , Well, the laws in your country must establish the term till which you can take the purchase back to the store. It called money-back, and here in Ukraine it amounts two weeks.
The other way you can try is to find out whether you have on AGP port in your motherboard. If you have, you can buy or ask friends for any cheap graphics card starting even from GeForce MX they seems to have compability with Stevil Sep 3, , 6: I believe this problem is due to a fault in the monitor. We used the same ghost image on each PC and out of the 80 we bought, 4 of them had this problem.
I have been in contact with Acer who advised me to return them under their RMA policy. My advice to you home users - Replace them if possible. Even if you are lucky enough to have hardware that can be forced to its native resolution, you still have a faulty product.
SaraC Oct 14, , 3: I am also having problems with these monitors, slightly different to the ones listed above. The monitors had been working perfectly for about a month - the resolution was found automatically, appeared in graphics options and we had no problems.
Then suddenly we switched on the laptops one day and the x resolution had disappeared from the graphics options. The monitors now display the incorrect resolution. I have tried everything I can think of to bring back the correct resolution. Acer maintain its a software issue and won't exchange the monitors, our IT tech guys say it's an issue with the hardware and I am stuck in the middle!
Can anyone offer any solutions? I don't know where the resolution has disappeared to! Could a Windows Update be the issue? Mam Dec 13, , I am also having the above mentioned problem. I just installed Windows Vista and while using ATI HD card, i got the native resolution of x with the drivers and all already installed. But when i switched my computer back on after some while, the x option was gone. Like SaraC, I am using intel chipset. Until yesterday resolution was fine.
Now it has vanished and I've tried everything I can think of to get it back. I found them all on their european servers.
LexPendragon Dec 31, , 9: We've got a bunch of identical laptops, HP b, and their associated docking station, plugged into a bunch of ALW's. Randomly, one will just outright fail to find the correct resolution, and that's after it's been working for a while. Anonymous Feb 16, , 3: I had the same problem. It came up with "input not supported". Went into the graphics options right-click on the desktop and selected "full screen'. Its the monitor itself that is the problem.
At my job they have a few hundred of this model monitor and for whatever it will just stop displaying x We tried forcing the resolution under the intel display properties but the screen would flicker and be distorted.
The monitor is just junk and acer doesnt want to admit a problem. Switching to another of the same model will let you select x, until that monitor eventually fails.
My advise, return it if you can and dont but Acer products. The solution I found was to disconnect the monitor before rebooting and connecting it afterwords. Hope this helps I use an Intel video card. Great Work, I called Acer Service Center too, but they couldn't do anything, just booked my complaint, lets hope they will come to see the problem, that was solved my mirceaGuru: Summer1 Jul 18, ,
