Windows Vista SP1 contains several updates for wireless components, so we do not need to install any system patch on Windows Vista. Based on our research, it may be related to the device driver of the wireless network, or the wireless Access Point device.
The network adapter is Intel AGN. Intel provides the most recent driver for Windows Vista. However, if your computer is from computer manufacture, the standard driver provided by Intel may be not fully compatible.
Additionally, sometimes if there is any problem during driver update, the driver would not work properly. Therefore, I suggest that we remove the existed driver and reinstall with the most proper driver. In the Start Search box type "devmgmt. Expand "Network Adapters", double-click on the entry of the wireless network device.
Click the tab "Driver", click "Uninstall". In the Start Search box type "appwiz. Remove the entries related to the wireless network adapter. Then, please download the proper driver. If the network adapter is retail product, please download the driver from the following website.
Otherwise, if the computer is from manufacturer, please find the driver from the manufacturer's website.
If the issue persists after you reinstall the driver, please temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall, then test if the issue persists. If the above information does not help, please let me know if the issue occurs from beginning, or it started to occur recently. If the issue started to occur since you have got this computer, I suggest that you move the laptop to another wireless network with different model of Access Point as a test to see if the problem is related to the Access Point.
