Intel E1000 Driver Download Windows Xp Install Update

I have 1 xp vm and 1 netware 6. My goal is to move up to gigabit speed. My question is I have no idea how to get access to the intel e gigabit emulated adapter in the VM's. As long as you don't use the "vlance" virtual NIC type and when you have the VMware Tools installed insode the guest, your virtual NIC run's at maximum speed possible, regardless of what the guest shows as the network speed.

The best to use is "vmxnet 3 " or "enhanced vmxnet" as the virtual NIC type. The correct driver comes with the VMWare Tools beside other important things. That is so simple, but could I have that be the defualt if I wanted it to be for all new vm's created for the future? I read that the vmxnet is superior. I might try that some time. After some informal bench marking I discovered my real NW hardware box isn't that fast anymore not Netware's fault - It is on a minimal Intel Dual Core.

The same copy to a raw disk yeilded little difference However, going from the real Netware Hardware to my local Windows 7 D drive was the fastest since there was no VMing Write speed to a VDK. It seems that coping from a real hardware server to a VM'd Netware takes a lot more over head.

Running my final batch of tests did yield the highest through put for Server to VM'd Netware File 7 and 8 attached. You don't have JavaScript enabled.
